Privacy Policy

Private Transcriber ("the App") is designed to transcribe audio privately on your device. We built it so your
recordings and transcripts stay on your device unless you explicitly choose to share or export them. We do
not operate servers for processing your content, and we do not collect personal data from your use of the
App.
Summary
- No account, no ads, no analytics.
- Transcription runs on-device using locally stored models.
- Your audio and transcripts are stored on your device and remain under your control.
- Network access is used only to download optional transcription models you choose and to import audio
from URLs you provide.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data.
Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or process personal data on our servers. The App does not include third‑party
analytics, advertising SDKs, or trackers.
- Developer data collection: None
- App tracking (as defined by Apple): None
Because we do not collect data, there is no linking of data to your identity and no data used for tracking
across apps or websites.
On‑Device Processing and Storage
- Audio files, generated transcripts, settings, and model files are stored in your device's app storage
(e.g., sandbox Documents/Cache).
- Transcription is performed locally on your device using the Whisper model you select.
- If you uninstall the App, its local data is removed by the operating system.
Permissions and How They Are Used
The App may request the following permissions solely to provide core functionality:
- Microphone: Record audio for transcription.
- Files/Media/Photos: Import audio or video from your library or files for transcription.
- Network: Download transcription models from trusted sources you choose and import audio
from URLs you provide. No recordings or transcripts are uploaded to our servers.
Third‑Party Services
The App does not send your recordings or transcripts to any third party.
- Model downloads: When you request a model, the App downloads it over HTTPS from a
public model host (e.g., huggingface.co). Only the model file is downloaded; your content is not
uploaded.
- System share sheet: If you export/share a transcript, iOS/Android presents the system
share sheet. Your data is shared only with the app(s)/service(s) you choose, under their respective
privacy policies.
Your Choices and Controls
- Import: Choose what to import from device storage or a URL you provide.
- Delete: Remove any transcript or recording from within the App; you can also uninstall
the App to remove all App data from your device.
- Share/Export: Optional. You decide if/when to share a transcript and with whom.
Security
- On‑device: Your data remains within your device's app sandbox unless you export/share
it.
- In transit: Model and URL downloads use HTTPS where supported by the source.
- No remote processing: We do not maintain servers for your content.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided personal information via the App, please contact us so we can assist.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or regulatory changes. We will post the updated policy
within the App repository and/or website and update the "Effective date" above.
